Skype + Thunderbird

If you guys (and gals) use Skype at all to place phone calls, you need to check out the handy Skype plugin for Thunderbird. It allows you to place phone calls via SkypeOut. via [Skype Journal]

Update: The plugin seems to cause my addressbook some problems. When I try to load it, it never appears and spirals off into some sort of loop. I have to manually kill Thunderbird from the Task Manager. Uninstalling the extension seems to fix the problem. Your mileage may vary.

Microsoft more open and transparent

Brij Singh's got some interesting comments about Microsoft over at Random Musings. He thinks they've done a good job of opening up the company via blogging. I have to agree.

Right now, Microsoft looks to be gaining my trust much better than both Google and Apple. In fairness to Google, though, they haven't done anything I would consider wrong, I would just say that I like Microsoft's attitude towards blogging better.

Baby Goodwin!

So, last week I made mention of some big events happening over here that I didn't feel comfortable mentioning at the time. One of those things is the fact that Audrey is pregnant!

Of course the family has been going nuts! We're really excited about the news as well, but it's been really funny watching everyone around us freaking out.

We went to the doctor today to get the first ultrasound. You can check out the pics over at her flickr account. I have a feeling that's going to turn into "Baby Goodwin Central" so feel free to drop in and leave comments and well wishes over there.

Firefox Click2Call Vonage Extension

Some awesome soul has gone and coded up a Click2Call Extension for Firefox/Thunderbird. Click2Call is a nifty Vonage feature that allows you to highlight a phone number on your computer and initiate a phone call to that number without picking up the phone.

Awesome productivity enhancement for your Thunderbird Address Book if you're a vonage user.
